These are really flavorful grains, and so is the kefired water they make! Yes, some of us on the team let their kids eat the extras. We may also have tasted them, ourselves. Sweet with a hint of tartness, these grains are the perfect choice for homemade, fermented fruit or herb sodas! You can even do coffee in them, if you like!

What are water kefir grains?

Water kefir grains, also known as Tibicos or Japanese Water Crystals, are a Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeasts (SCOBY), that converts sugar water into a fermented, carbonated beverage packed with beneficial probiotics. Water kefir is made using sugar water, it’s a good option for those who choose or need to avoid dairy.

The primary difference between buying fresh and dried water kefir grains is that dried grains can be stored longer than fresh. These are perfect for those of you who want to get your grains now but know it’ll be a while before you can get them going. Also excellent for gift giving, especially if you’re planning ahead and don’t want to fuss with keeping it all going before you’ve gifted them!

  • 100% Organic sugar, spring water, and live active cultures.

  • We occasional feed our water kefir grains with organic unsulphured molasses, organic lemon slices, organic raisins, and organic dark brown sugar.

  • Water kefir is a mesophilic ferment and cultures at room temperature.

  • Ships dehydrated. Glass bowl not included.
