Copy Cat Orange Julius

Does Orange Julius still exist? What's the deal w/ it all? I have a lot of childhood memories being rewarded for enduring shopping trips to the mall with a nice, giant, cold Orange Julius. At some point, probably when I was 12 or so, I decided to work out a way to make them myself. This tastes pretty close, and I haven’t changed the recipe over the years.

Mostly I only make it when I have a craving, but I did have a craving recently and Child Tester was delighted. Ross too, as he also forgot I knew how to make these! She is too old now to remember the last time I made juliuses, because as Ross sometimes sadly tells me, I never really make the same thing twice. I guess that means he has to be fully present in his eating (or drinking!) experience since it’ll be years before he sees the food again, if ever? I don’t know, but I feel like CT is going to request this regularly.

3 cups orange juice (or one small container orange juice concentrate, which is what I typically use)
½ cup ice cubes
2 eggs*
1½ teaspoons – 1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon powdered milk (I use about a quarter cup of fresh milk if I don’t want to use dried)
1/8 teaspoon salt
¼ cup sugar

Put all ingredients in blender; blend until smooth.

*Raw can cause salmonella. I personally don't worry about this, but if you do worry about it, perhaps some powdered egg and water replacement will work for you. You also may omit it completely if desired.
